Sunday, March 4 - The Cold Hands Paddle 2018

The 16th Annual Tim O'Donnell Honorary Cold Hands Paddle benefits Ocean of Hope and is great way to start the paddling season with an awesome 4 mile course from Cabrillo Beach Bathhouse, around the lighthouse, and finishing inside at Cabrillo Beach. The race is FREE to participate. Donations and proceeds from the raffle are support cancer patients through Ocean of Hope and the Sarcoma Alliance. Come for the race, stay for the raffle and awards ceremony! All ages are welcome! SUP and prone will be awarded; Dory boats, surfskis, kayaks, and OC1s are welcome to participate but not awarded.

This workshop is one part planning, one part on water skills, one part community. Why? Because without a plan you have no focus, skills bring reason purpose and focus to your paddling and community is the gel which makes everything more enjoyable.
Annabel will share with you the mental and physical approach she has used to succeed for years on repeat.
Be it wanting to build fitness, get out on the water more, hone skills, target a specific event or to have adventures this is a workshop built around what will help you make this summer your most fun summer yet.

Friday, April 27 – Aqua Adventures Gear & Cheer to benefit Stand Up for the Cure

Party for a purpose with Aqua Adventures and help fight breast cancer. Join us for an evening of fun, food, gear and cheer to raise awareness and funds to support breast cancer early detection, treatment and education. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Stand Up for The Cure and Susan G Komen Orange County.
The evening will feature networking and fun with paddle and non paddle friends, food, beer and wine, and great raffle prizes. Grand prize giveaways include a Surftech/NSP “Board for Breast Cancer” stand up paddleboard and an Ocean Kayak Malibu Two XL tandem Kayak.

With a 2:00pm race start time and a Southeasterly course, we are hopeful for a fairly reliable 10-20 knot Northwest wind to assist us in surfing the approximate 7 mile course. The start will be from the water at Mugu State Beach, just on the other side of Mugu Rock. The finish will be at Leo Carillo State Beach at the west end of the North beach parking lot. Awards and a beach BBQ with refreshments will immediately follow the race. A limited number of campsites are available for Friday and Saturday nights at Leo Carrillo State Beach and Sycamore Cove State Beach. The Crystal Pier Outrigger Canoe Race is a Southern California Outrigger Racing Association Race, hosted by Hanohano Canoe Club in San Diego, CA. The race draws 2500+ participants annually who battle in a 6-mile short course, novice and kid’s race as well as a 10-mile men, women and coed races in six person outrigger canoes.

We recommend that all volunteers dress in layers, wear sun protection, and
bring a reusable water bottle. Participants must be 14 years old and up. Each volunteer under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There are only 10 spots available for this cleanup. Email Tucker if you are interested in participating. Be sure to include the number of people you are registering, if there are any children in your party, and your kayaking skill level. World class 14-mile downwind paddle board race from Davenport Landing to Main Beach in Santa Cruz. For close to a decade this course has provided some of the most epic and challenging downwind race conditions in California. Each May, cold Northern California water combined with winds up to 25 knots bring athletes past a rugged stretch of coast rarely seen or paddled. The core celebration of this contest is the challenge our ocean has provided us in this amazing piece of water. Hosted by Ghostryders Santa Cruz. Open to SUP and prone.

The goal is for SoCal Inland paddlers to get to know each other better and hopefully establish a group that can meet and paddle together more consistently. We are hoping to have two groups of paddlers depending on craft and speed so please do not stay home because you are worried that the pace of the day will not be for you. We should also have a small assortment of varied craft for people to try. Looking forward to paddling with you all.

This is a great training paddle for Rock 2 Rock and is a qualifying race for the Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race.
