April 22 - Stand Up For Clean Water - Paradise Cove, Malibu
The 6th annual SUP For Clean Water paddle race and marine festival will once again be held at the beautiful Paradise Cove beach in Malibu.
For the first time, the Earth Day event will feature a variety of opportunities to learn about, celebrate, and directly engage in our efforts to safeguard the most ecologically important areas of our oceans: Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
SUP 4 Clean Water takes place in the Point Dume State Marine Reserve, one of many MPAs along the California coastline, where fishing is limited in order to nurture aquatic ecosystems back to health. Our MPA Watch Program engages 300+ underserved youth and other volunteers throughout LA County in our boat-based outreach, education and monitoring efforts along our region’s protected marine reserves.

Sunday funday event to benefit young Kai (born with gastrointestinal problems requiring multiple surgeries). Race is a 4 x 2.5 mile relay race around Naples island at Mother's Beach in Long Beach (Alamitos Bay). Choose your option, oc1, oc2, oc6, sup, anything goes. Coed would be a fun way to go. Relay teams can be made up early and/or the morning of the race. Solo iron division too. Registration opens at 9am, race at 10am. Beverages, potluck, BBQ, and beverages immediately after.

7 mile Ocean Paddleboard race from Seaside Reef up to Moonlight Beach and back. Put on by King's Paddlesports. Fun community event!

The racers check-in will start at 8:00am Saturday on the Seaside Reef parking lot. After all racers are checked-in, all paddlers will navigate the shore break to the “Starting Line”. The course follows the kelp line North to Moonlight Beach - Encinitas where paddlers will turn around the buoy located off the beach and head back toward the “Starting Line”. Paddlers will have to decide to either stay inside the kelp bed on calmer water or outside with the shortest distance. The choice of the course might be decisive when seconds separate paddlers.
