Race Recap: First time to Tahoe and to do a Standup Paddle Race

South Tahoe Summer SUP Series Gathering of the Tribes

Cali Paddler welcomes Team Writer Tiffany who took a trip to South Lake Tahoe to see what racing on this famous location was like. Altitude. Fresh Water. Fun crowd. AMAZING scenery. If you weren't there, see what you missed. If you were, well, relive it!

As I headed up to Lake Tahoe in the early hours of the morning - 4:15am to be exact - on the day before the first Tahoe Sup Series race of 2016, all I could think of was the lakes majestic blue and green waters. I had only been to Tahoe with my parents when I was maybe eight, so this in many ways was my first time getting to experience Tahoe. For those who have made the 8-10 hour drive you know it’s a long one but so worth it. Side note – it’s a crap shoot trying to drive there in the summer as many highways have construction going on to repair the roads from the winter and wild fires can be an issue causing long delays and/or detours.

Standup Paddle Yoga and Fitness Teacher Training

SUP Yoga TrainingWe thank Team Writer Tiffany for sharing with us her recent awesome experience in Laguna Beach for SUP Yoga and Fitness training. Curious about the cool things they covered? So were we! ~CP

So taking the next step - wait, I should say paddle into my practice, I decided to go right into a teacher training that would combine all my loves into one; and be able to share that stoke of it all to others. After doing some research for a teacher training in the Orange County (CA) area, I found that the training offered by Sunset Standup Paddle out of Laguna Beach would be the best for me due to my location was only a 20 minute drive over the next three days.

Event Recap - Standup for the Cure 2016 Newport Dunes

Standup for the CureThe 5th Annual Standup for the Cure took place under cooler than normal, but beautiful sunny skies in the back bay of Newport Beach, CA; and also so fitting, on the Saturday before Mothers Day. The day stared off with smiling faces to greet each participant, as we were handed a pink event jersey. That my fellow paddlers, was only the start of a wonderful day filled with smiles, hugs, kisses, prayers, laughs, catching up with our paddle buddies, some great paddling and a little more paddling just for good fun.
